Dangerous home products include Samsung washing machines

A man in another state claims that his Samsung washing machine is defective. According to officials, the machine -- which is sold in West Virginia and throughout the United States -- has the potential to explode and injure its users. The man has requested class action status for the claim, seeking damages in light of the allegedly dangerous home products.

Several Samsung washing machine owners last year complained that their machines were vibrating in an almost explosive way. In November, the company recalled about three million of its machines and promised to repair them or to issue refunds. The man who filed the class action lawsuit, however, asserts that Samsung tried multiple times to fix his machine and that all attempts had failed.

The man asserts that Samsung did not fix his equipment on purpose because it was trying to get him to purchase another company machine. The recall from November covered 34 top-loading washing machines. It came after the company received about 800 complaints regarding the units.

As part of his lawsuit, the man seeks an injunction from the court to prevent the company for marketing its top-loader washing machines moving forward. He also requests monetary damages. If dangerous home products lead to user injuries in West Virginia, those seriously injured have the right to seek full financial accountability from the product manufacturers through the civil justice system. A monetary award in a successfully litigated product liability case may help to cover medical costs, the loss of wages and other losses tied to the use of a defective product.
