Target benches among dangerous products recently recalled

Consumers in West Virginia who purchased certain patio benches from Target last year have been instructed to return them to Target before setting them out for the upcoming spring season. The reason for the recall of these Threshold aluminum patio benches is that they can collapse and cause injury. Target so far has gotten six reports about these dangerous products, with one report pointing to a knee injury caused by a collapsing bench.

Around 1,300 of the benches were marketed at Target stores throughout the nation as well as online. They were sold from January to July 2016 for an estimated $150. Consumers who bought the benches in tandem with certain six-piece dining sets paid $1,000 for the pair of products.

The U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported that consumers who have these products should quit using them immediately. They can simply take them to Target stores to get complete refunds. Those who purchased the benches along with the dining sets can keep using their dining sets.

When consumers in West Virginia purchase dangerous products and suffer harm due to using them, it is within their rights to seek to hold the makers of these products accountable through the civil court system. Injuries caused by defective products can unfortunately prevent a person from being able to return to work for an extended period of time or even lead to heavy medical costs, depending on the nature of the injuries. Damages awarded in a successfully litigated product liability case may help to cover the loss of wages and medical costs in addition to addressing pain and suffering caused by the use of the dangerous product.
