Dangerous products include dressers, phone batteries

Dressers and batteries are among several items that were recently recalled, with the recalls potentially affecting consumers in West Virginia. The dressers that were recalled were sold at Target. Meanwhile, Samsung and FedEx have called certain cellphone batteries dangerous products.

Regarding the dressers, Target reported that about 175,000 dressers sold in the United States are being recalled because they have the potential to tip over. Thus, these items pose a serious risk to children. So far, the company has received a total of 12 reports about the Room Essentials dressers collapsing. Two children have been hit by the dresser, although no consumers have reported injuries up to now. The dressers were sold between January of 2013 and April of 2016.

Concerning the batteries, more than 10,000 were placed inside Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phones that had been refurbished. These phones were distributed via the FedEx Supply Chain for use as replacement phones as part of AT&T's phone insurance program. However, company officials said they determined that the batteries are actually counterfeit and feature anomalies that can cause them to overheat. The batteries were used between December of 2016 and April of 2017.

Sometimes seemingly safe products can end up causing serious issues to consumers in West Virginia and elsewhere due to defects in their manufacture or design. In these situations, the injury victims have the right to file product liability claims against the makers of the dangerous products. A successfully fought claim may lead to monetary damages, which may be helpful for covering medical expenses and other related costs.
