Car crash leads to 5 injuries

Five people have suffered injuries in a car wreck in West Virginia. The two-vehicle accident took place on a recent Wednesday. Police said speeding was a causal factor in the car crash.

The car wreck occurred at just before 9:30 p.m. According to police, the driver of one of the two cars was attempting to pass the other car. This driver was apparently going up to 80 miles per hour.

All of sudden, however, the allegedly speeding car ended up going over an embankment. Although five people were hurt in the crash, the extent of their injuries was not immediately clear. A local volunteer fire department, county sheriff's department and county emergency ambulance authority all arrived at the collision scene.

The driver who reportedly caused the West Virginia car crash by driving quickly may be held liable for the other injuries suffered in the collision. The injury victims who did not cause the crash may choose to file personal injury claims against the allegedly at-fault driver, seeking damages. A preponderance of the evidence is necessary to establish liability, based upon a showing of negligence, before claims for financial damages will be decided. Monetary damages may help with covering medical bills and even the loss of wages for those whose injuries were severe enough to prevent them from returning to work for an extended period of time, for example. Even though a financial award cannot undo the events that led to the accident, it may help the injury victims to feel a sense of justice in light of the ordeal.
