iPhone and Building Sets for Children Among Dangerous Products

 | Aug 10, 2017 | Products Liability

Several product recalls that were recently issued may have an impact on West Virginia consumers. One of these product recalls involves iPhone cases. Meanwhile, another set of dangerous products that have been recalled include children’s building sets.

Regarding the first recall, over 250,000 iPhone cases featuring glitter have been recalled because the glitter may leak, thus leading to burns and skin irritation. The cases essentially feature glitter and liquid that float inside the plastic case. The cases being recalled include those for the iPhone 7, 6 and 6s, and they were marketed at Amazon and at stores such as Victoria’s Secret, Nordstrom Rack and MixBin from October of 2015 to June of 2017. So far, there have been 24 reports from around the globe regarding chemical burns or skin irritation, with 19 of them being from the United States.

Concerning the children’s building sets, two Panelcraft Rainbow set styles have been recalled because the corner welds of the sets may break, thus allowing the frames and panels to separate, which may release magnets while the toys are being used. These magnets pose a choking hazard. The building sets were marketed at sites such as Kaplan Early Learning Co. and Discount School Supply between November of 2016 and January of 2017. Around 2,000 sets are being recalled, although no incidents have been reported.

If consumers in West Virginia are hurt due to using dangerous products, they have the right to seek justice. They may choose to file personal injury claims, seeking the reimbursement of damages sustained by using the defective products. Liability has to be established before the court before a judge will decide claims for damages.
