Defective Products Include IKEA Beach Chairs

 | Feb 4, 2017 | Uncategorized

Beach lovers in West Virginia may have recently purchased MYSINGSO beach chairs at the store IKEA. However, officials report that these chairs are actually defective products. A recall of these products has thus been issued.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission reported that the foldable IKEA beach chairs have the potential to collapse. As a result, they pose fingertip amputation as well as fall hazards. Consumers are encouraged to stop using these chairs and to take them back to an IKEA store for complete refunds or complementary replacements.

More than 33,000 beach chairs are impacted by the recall. Each chair, which was marketed at $25, has a wood base along with a seat made from polyester fabric. So far, the company has gotten 13 incident reports from around the world, including 10 injury reports. Six of the reports led to fingertip amputations, with one of the amputations occurring in the United States. The replacement MYSINGSO chairs feature stoppers made from plastic that prevent the chairs from being reassembled incorrectly.

When West Virginia consumers suffer injuries due to using defective products, it is within their rights to file product liability claims against the makers of these products. Once liability is established to a civil court’s satisfaction, based upon proof of negligence and/or breach of warranty, the court will decide damage claims. A successfully fought suit may lead to a monetary damage award, which can help to cover medical bills and other losses related to the use of the hazardous product. Monetary damages might also help to address pain and suffering caused by the ordeal.
