Spinal cord injury study to involve stem cells, virtual reality

Facilitating recovery from spine-related injuries remains a major goal of doctors involved in regenerative medicine. After all, many patients who suffer from spinal cord injury and paralysis in West Virginia were active people prior to the incidents that suddenly led to their life-altering injuries. A new study that recently received approval from an institutional review board may yield helpful insights into the use of stem cells derived from bone marrow to help spinal cord injury victims.

New Study Shows Invokana Increases the Risk of Amputations

Warner Law Offices has recently become aware that the Type 2 diabetes drug, Invokana, puts users at an increased risk for leg, foot and toe amputations. The FDA issued the first safety warning regarding Invokana and amputation based on interim analysis of two clinical trials. Based on these final results, the FDA has issued a more severe, "black box warning" for Invokana.

Laptop users in West Virginia may be impacted by a recent recall of products that the company Lenovo has issued. Lenovo has decided to recall nearly 80,000 ThinkPad Carbon X1 computers. According to the company, these are dangerous products because a screw that is loose in each of them may end up damaging the computer's lithium-ion battery, thus posing a possible fire hazard.

Serious surgical errors result in $109 million award to patient

A woman in another state lost her feet and hands years ago as a result of a botched surgery to eliminate an ovarian cyst. However, she was awarded a whopping $109 million by a jury recently. Anyone in West Virginia or elsewhere who suffers as a result of surgical errors likewise has the right to seek justice through the civil court system.
