Waterpik toothbrushes deemed dangerous products

Thousands of Waterpik flossing toothbrush users in West Virginia and elsewhere may be impacted by a recent recall of these dental products. Almost 4,000 of these flossing toothbrushes have been recalled. Apparently, these dangerous products have the potential to overheat and cause fires.

Waterpik decided to recall 3,800 Sonic-Fusion toothbrushes after receiving reports that their charging bases can overheat and end up shocking or burning their users. The toothbrushes were sold across the country from June 2017 to June 2018. They were made available online, at trade shows and for professional educators.

Company officials have encouraged consumers who have purchased the Sonic-Fusion toothbrushes to quit using them. They have also been instructed to unplug their units and send them back to Waterpik. This recall is major given that the Waterpik remains the top manufacturer of water flossers in the country.

Unfortunately, sometimes dangerous products end up being sold in stores or online. Although the product manufacturers may recall these defective items, some consumers may have already suffered serious injuries as a result of using them. In this situation, an injured consumer has the right to file a product liability claim against the product manufacturer, seeking damages.

A suit that is successfully fought may lead to financial damages that might help the injured consumer to cover his or her hospital bills. Compensation may additionally help with addressing other related losses, such as the loss of wages due to having to miss work for doctor's appointments. Monetary damages might also help with addressing pain and suffering resulting from the use of dangerous products in West Virginia.
