Auto defects spark recalls of BMWs, Fords, Toyotas and Harleys

Car owners in West Virginia may be impacted by a few widespread motor vehicle product recalls. They involve BMW, Ford and Toyota cars, as well as Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Here is a look at the auto defects pinpointed in these recalls.

First, BMW recently decided to expand a recall so that it covers more than 1.5 million cars worldwide. The problem vehicles may experience fluid leaks, which could lead to fires. This recall covers automobiles manufactured from 2010 to 2017. Meanwhile, a Ford recall covers 1.5 Focus cars due to a problem with their fuel systems that may cause the engines to suddenly stall. This recall impacts motor vehicles from the model years of 2012 to 2018,

Toyota has also recalled more than a million cars worldwide because the air bags may suddenly inflate even if crashes have not taken place. The recall impacts thousands of cars made from 2004 to 2006 in the United States. Finally, Harley-Davidson decided to recall almost 180,000 motorcycles across the United States because of a problem with the clutch. Several models from the years of 2017 and 2018 are affected by this recall.

Car manufacturers are naturally expected to produce motor vehicles that are safe for drivers in West Virginia and other states to use. Unfortunately, this does not always happen. In these situations, if drivers are injured due to auto defects, it is within their rights to pursue product liability claims against the makers of their defective cars, seeking damages. An understanding of what facts need to be proved will most likely be critical to prevail in these types of liability claims in West Virginia.
