Car wreck involving semi-truck claims 1 life, causes 1 injury

A teenage boy has sadly lost his life in a tragic car crash in West Virginia. His sister also suffered injuries in the motor vehicle crash. The car wreck, which involved a semi-truck, took place on a recent Tuesday morning along State Route 152.

The accident took place at a little before 9 a.m. It occurred along a stretch of road that is relatively straight before curving sharply. According to authorities, the boy, a 16-year-old varsity basketball and football player, passed away in the collision between the semi-truck and the sport utility vehicle he was driving.

The boy's sister, who was riding in the SUV with him, was transported to the hospital with major injuries. Thankfully, authorities reported that the elementary school-age girl should recover from her injuries. Police continued to investigate the crash.

If the gathered evidence suggests that the semi-truck driver caused the West Virginia crash due to negligent driving, the surviving loved ones of the teenage boy may decide to file a wrongful death claim against the truck driver and possibly the trucker's employer, seeking damages. A personal injury claim may also be filed against the truck driver due to the girl's serious injuries. Liability must be established, based upon a showing of negligence, before claims for damages will be determined. If the plaintiffs are successful in court, they may receive a judgment for monetary damages that might help with covering medical bills, funeral costs and other losses associated with the car wreck. In addition, a monetary damage award might help with addressing pain and suffering caused by the motor vehicle accident.
