Nate Kuratomi
After growing up in northern Pennsylvania, Nate graduated from Marshall University in 2002 with a B.A. in Literature and a B.A. in Creative Writing. Nate earned his Juris Doctor from the Penn State Dickinson School of Law in 2006 with a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution and Advocacy. While in law school, Nate received the Paul L. Stevens Memorial Scholarship and the ABA/BNA Award for Excellence in the Study of Labor and Employment Law, was a member of the Appellate Moot Court Board, and served as Managing Editor for the Journal of American Arbitration.
Nate spent the next seventeen years as a defense attorney with Jenkins Fenstermaker, PLLC in Huntington, West Virginia, representing individuals, small businesses, and large companies in civil cases involving catastrophic injuries, claims for wrongful death, premises liability, deliberate intent, employment discrimination, and sexual harassment. Nate also advised and defended municipalities against claims involving allegations of excessive force and police misconduct. Nate has tried cases in both federal and state courts and has obtained favorable results before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Nate held leadership roles in his firm, in the defense bar, and in the community, having served as Litigation Section Chair and on Jenkins Fenstermaker’s Management Committee, as a member of the Board of Governors of Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia, CLE Coordinator and Chair of the Young Lawyers’ Committee of Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia where he was recognized as Defense Trial Counsel Young Lawyer of the Year in 2018, and as Board President of the United Way of the River Cities.
Nate is an avid runner, having finished nine marathons, a lifelong New York Mets fan, and a history lover. Nate lives in Huntington with his son, Jack, their dog, Argos, and their cat, Warren Zevon.
