Nook Tablet Power Adapters Considered Dangerous Products

 | Feb 9, 2017 | Products Liability

NOOK Tablet 7″ owners in West Virginia may be affected by a product recall involving power adapters that were sold with these tablets. The recall has been issued by Barnes & Noble. The company has labeled the adapters dangerous products because they have the potential to break.

According to Barnes & Noble, the power adapters’ casing may break when the adapters are plugged into electrical outlets. This can expose the metal prongs and thus pose a shock hazard. So far, the company has received four reports about power adapters pulling apart or breaking. No injuries have yet been reported.

Consumers are encouraged to stop using these adapters and to register online for complementary replacements. Each consumer will also receive a $5 gift card to Barnes & Noble. Once consumers have registered, they can print a shipping label to send their defective adapters back to Barnes & Noble. As they wait for their replacements, they are encouraged to charge their NOOK Tablets through their computers using USB cables.

Product makers are expected to ensure that the items they produce are safe for consumers to utilize before they arrive on store shelves. However, sometimes defects in the products are found down the road, and these defects may cause serious injuries to the consumers who use these products. People in West Virginia who have been injured due to using dangerous products have the right to seek to hold the product manufacturer accountable through the civil court system. A successfully fought product liability claim might lead to damages that may help with covering medical costs and other losses stemming from the use of the products.
