Dangerous Home Products Include Espresso Makers and Recliners

West Virginia consumers may have a couple of household products that were recently deemed dangerous by officials. These dangerous home products include espresso makers and reclining chairs. Both of these products have been recalled due to their defects.

For the espresso makers, more than 17,000 IMUSA espresso makers are being recalled because the filler caps on top of the units have the potential to crack. This means steam can escape, which poses a burn risk to those using the machines. Also, the caps may pop off due to the buildup of pressure, which further poses a risk of impact injury to bystanders. So far, 43 incidents have been reported, with one person claiming to have suffered hand burns. These machines were sold between July 2014 and November 2014 in stores such as Target, Kmart and Sears.

Concerning the recliners, more than 1,000 units of the Human Touch Perfect Chair have been recalled because the joystick reclining mechanisms have the potential to malfunction. Thus, the chairs may continue to move, which poses a fall hazard. So far, one report of a malfunctioning joystick mechanism has surfaced, although injuries have not yet been reported. These recliners were sold at specialty and furniture stores as well as online.

Customers in West Virginia who are hurt as a result of using dangerous home products have the right to take legal action against the manufacturers of these goods. They may seek recompense for the financial damages sustained after using the dangerous products. Claims for damages will be determined once liability has been established in a manner that satisfies the civil court hearing the case.
